The dream of Gavin Crisfield - Irish sommelier, oenologist, and prominent singer/songwriter, took shape in 2009 when he decided to settle in Saint-Privat in the magnificent Terrasses du Larzac. His Traversée wine has come to fruition on his 4.5 hectare vineyard, which is made up of a wide variety of soil qualities: schist, clay-limestone, sandstone and basalt. Allowing him to blend a wine in concrete eggs, oval barrels, and mature it for about 18 months. This jewel is already a legend in the sector... "The great wine, made from Syrah, Grenache, Carignan and Cinsault, has an exceptional breed, is extremely elegant, with a contained power. An iron hand in a velvet glove."
Our official tasting notes are as follows:
'This is a brooding blend of Cinsault, Carignan, Grenache, and Syrah – aged in French oak. Dusty herbal & dark fruit aromas lead into an intriguing palate of spiced dark fruit, plumb, herbal notes, with hints of graphite and leather – it’s balanced acidity and peppery finish is enticing – a whopping success'
If you are able to find a bottle of this incredible wine, you should purchase without hesitation - it is at it's peak and will remain so for a few years. Any troubles had in locating it, feel free to reach out to us and we'll see what we can do :)
