It is time for one of the most wonderful days of the year - Drink Wine Day! 'Wow, how do I celebrate?' - said no one 🤣
It is an easy thing to celebrate to be sure, but for those who want to make this day truly special and exciting, keep a few ideas in mind:
1). Open the bottle(s) you've been saving for a special occasion. How many stories have you heard where someone passes away, and leaves behind a slough of ready-to-drink wines for occasions that were never special enough. We're not saying run through your collection (though that does happen), but get on it already!
2). Try a new varietal. Human beings are creatures of habit, and so they tend to stick to what they're comfortable with - wines included. But as you know, there is a whole world of wine out there for the taking! So go take a chance on those $20+ bottles of grapes you've never heard of! We'll give a quick list of ten grapes to look out for:
- Xinomavro (Greece)
- Xarel-lo (Spain)
- Škrlet (Croatia)
- Pinotage (S. Africa)
- Plavic Mali (Croatia)
- Aglianico (Italy)
- Kerner (Germany)
- Schioppettino (Italy)
- Moschofilero (Greece)
- Petit Sirah (France)
3). Try a familiar grape from a very different region of the world. Big fan of Napa Cabernet? Try a Cab-dominated blend from Bordeaux! California Pinot Noir? Go for a Côte de Nuits! Love White Burgundy? Go for an New-World style Australian Chardonnay! Why do we use so many exclamation points? Because we love them and we've had too much coffee!!
But you get the idea.
In any case, do your best to get some people together, and have fun drinking wines while socially distancing. And don't forget the serving temperatures! If you need help, send a message to us and we'll get you straightened out!
